Advocates Europe (AE) was incorporated in June, 2001 in Guernsey, British Channel Islands, to encourage lawyers and other professionals to promote the Rule of Law and Ethics in Europe. Chairman of the Board of Directors is John Langlois. President and CEO is Latchezar Popov.

Associated with AE are European lawyers who uphold Christian ethics and values and unite efforts to promote justice, human rights, religious liberty and reconciliation by serving those in need in Europe without regard to race, economic standing, faith tradition or other consideration.

  Our methods of work are:
     Creating and organizing networks of lawyers and law students all over Europe;
     Monitoring and notifying the competent state authorities about violations of human       rights and religious freedom;
     Encouraging tolerance in European society as a condition for successful international       cooperation and assisting any similar activities organized by other organizations or       individuals;

     Making constructive proposals for resolving the issues.

  Our Guiding Principles are:
     We integrate both the horizontal and vertical dimensions of law and life, recognizing that       law reform without ethical reform is ineffective and insufficient.

     Our concern is to achieve justice, emphasizing what is right, but not politics, which       merely emphasizes who has the power.

     Our guiding principle is the universal Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be       treated.

  Conference Theme:
  "A European Lawyer's Calling, Responsibilities and Opportunities"

  By Calling we ment that lawyers in Europe have to try to be the "salt and the light" (Matthew 5:13-14) in Europe. It is so because lawyers by their definition of work serve as a blood system in the society, relating the state and the church, the state and the citizens, the church and the citizens as well as citizens and citizens. They need to be an example, following the golden rule: "Treat others as you want to be treated".

  Responsibilities: Exercising their functions as magestrates, advocates, legal advisors and mediators, lawyers have big influence in the life of individuals, organizations, the state and the society. In this aspect the lawyer is a public delegate with high responsibility. This should help us to consider our profession as a mission, remembering the verses in Micah 6:8: "He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

  Opportunities: The fulfillment of their calling and the realization of their responsibility open a big door of opportunity in front of the jurists. Lawyer's work can change the continent of Europe.
